Gilbert A. Fender

Gilbert A. Fender is a veteran project manager and construction development expert with more than 30 years of experience leading high-value hospitality, residential, and commercial projects across Jamaica and the Caribbean. As Director of Project Development at High Life Resort & Spa, Gilbert oversees the planning, design, and execution of major expansion initiatives, ensuring that every development aligns with the resort’s vision of luxury, wellness, and sustainability.

Gilbert’s career includes leadership roles on projects valued at more than US $20 million, spanning resorts, condominiums, villas, and large-scale infrastructure. He has managed construction and refurbishment for some of Jamaica’s most prominent hospitality brands, including Sandals, Half Moon, Hedonism II, Sunset Resorts, and Mystic Ridge . His portfolio also includes the development of condominium complexes, residential communities, shopping centers, educational facilities, and international projects such as upgrades for the U.S. Embassy .

With formal training in Project Management (University of New Orleans) and Construction Management (CAST), Gilbert brings both technical expertise and hands-on leadership to every stage of development. He is known for his ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and timelines, and deliver projects that exceed expectations while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

At High Life Resort & Spa, Gilbert plays a pivotal role in transforming the property into a 200+ room luxury destination with villas, a spa, restaurants, and a Polo Club, blending modern construction excellence with the resort’s ethos of wellness and world-class hospitality.
